Social media has had enough of Mel Kiper Jr.
It was draft night in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the air was thick with anticipation.
Nobody will be happier when Shedeur Sanders comes off the board during the 2025 NFL draft than the ESPN draft expert.
Shortly after commissioner Roger Goodell formally put the Tennessee Titans on the clock to set up Cam Ward’s selection first overall, Kiper began his lovefest for Sanders, which continued throughout the first round.
Once hyped as a potential top-five pick, Sanders tumbled past quarterback-needy teams like the Saints, Giants, and Titans.
“Shedeur Sanders will come back to haunt these organizations,” Kiper warned.
It got to the point that NFL fans began to call for him to be fired.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. Once Said He Would retire

Remember that, 15 years ago, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. said he would retire if Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen wasn’t a successful NFL QB.
Mel’s official announcement was way back in 2010.
The NFL future of then-Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen had him ready to hang up his shoes forever.
Kiper had Clausen ranked as the fourth-best prospect in the entire 2010 NFL Draft when he said, “If Jimmy Clausen is not a successful quarterback in the NFL, I’m done. That’s it. I’m out.”
He was not successful.
