Football fans are teeing off on Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders for trying to perform one of Patrick Mahomes’ signature moves during his pro day.
NFL coaches, executives and scouts watched the likes of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter work out at Colorado’s pro day on Friday, giving Buffaloes prospects one more chance to increase their stock before the NFL Draft begins on Apr. 24.
During his pro day, Sanders attempted the “behind the back” pass that Mahomes has made famous. And it was sure a dandy:

But let’s just say that football fans on social media were hardly impressed with Sanders’ behind-the-back throw here…
“11 v 11 he’s throwing it to cooper dejean,” one fan quipped.

“draft him and ruin their franchise even more! Yes! Shedeur is a great athlete, but a backup in the NFL. Teams came to watch Travis Hunter, who looked electric and didn’t even break a sweat,” said another.
That was a pathetic "showcase" and I hope the @Giants draft him and ruin their franchise even more! Yes! Shedeur is a great athlete, but a backup in the NFL. Teams came to watch Travis Hunter, who looked electric and didn't even break a sweat.

Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward are considered the two best quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, with Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart the consensus No. 3 QB. The next tier includes Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Ohio State’s Will Howard and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe.
It’d be a stunner if Ward wasn’t the first quarterback taken. If he doesn’t go first overall to the Tennessee Titans, Ward will surely be gone by the time the Cleveland Browns (No. 2) and New York Giants (No. 3) hand in their draft cards.
Which Other Teams Could Target Shedeur Sanders?

If Sanders isn’t a top-three pick, the Las Vegas Raiders (No. 6) make sense as a potential landing spot. They just gave veteran Geno Smith a two-year extension, but it doesn’t hurt for Sanders to learn behind the Pro Bowler for a year or two before taking over the reins.
The New Orleans Saints (No. 9) may find it tough to pass up on Sanders if he’s available when it’s their turn to pick. Derek Carr is signed for two more seasons, but at 34 years of age, the oft-injured QB isn’t the long-term solution in NOLA.
