ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith revealed an eerie conversation he had with Donald Trump, long before the 78-year-old became the President of the United States.
You may recall that back in 2014, Trump attempted to purchase the NFL’s Buffalo Bills after the passing of owner and founder Ralph Wilson. Trump offered $1 billion in cash for the team, but Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula won the bidding war with a $1.4 billion price tag.
During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Stephen A. Smith revealed a stunning conversation he had with Trump during the latter’s push to acquire the Bills before they went to Pegula.
“He said, talking about the NFL owners, ‘If them MFers get in my way, I’m going to get them all back. I’m going to run for President. And sure enough, that’s what happened. He didn’t get the team, and because he didn’t get the team, he turned around and he ran for president. And he won.”
Smith said the NFL regularly jokes with him about how it’s their fault that the star of “The Apprentice” became the President of the United States.

DONALD TRUMP RAN FOR PRESIDENT TO GET BACK AT THE #NFL AFTER THE LEAGUE DID NOT ALLOW HIM TO BUY THE BUFFALO #BILLS.
“Stephen A., if these motherf*ckers get in my way’ I’m gonna get them all back. I’m gonna run for president.’”

Had Trump purchased the Bills, he probably would have made them his main priority and wouldn’t have wanted to run for POTUS. So if Smith’s story is true, then the NFL can definitely take some credit (or blame, however you want to look at it), for helping him become the most powerful man in the world.
