A team with a top-five selection is reportedly working extensively to make a blockbuster NFL draft trade in Green Bay.
Currently, the teams slated to pick in the top five (in order) are the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s widely assumed at this point that Tennessee will retain the No. 1 pick and use it on Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars want to get “bold” in their first draft under new head coach Liam Cohen and first-year GM James Gladstone. Rapoport brought up the Browns as a potential trade-up partner for the Jaguars and floated Travis Hunter’s name:
“My understanding is that the Jaguars will not be timid. They’re going to be bold. They’re going to do in a way what James Gladstone’s mentor, I guess you would say, Les Snead did, which is be bold. Could the Jaguars try to move up from 5 to, I don’t know, let’s say 2?
“I know the Cleveland Browns have received some calls. Maybe they try at least from now until the beginning of the draft to make that leap. Maybe that’s for Travis Hunter. It would be bold. Would the Browns do it? We don’t know. Keep an eye on the Jaguars.”

Now, there are always reports about a specific team looking to trade up or down in the days (and hours) leading up to the draft. Most of these rumors won’t come true, but it’s awfully fascinating that the Jaguars are looking to complete a drastic NFL draft trade despite holding a top-five selection.
Moving up three spots doesn’t usually cost a king’s ransom unless it involves the No. 1 pick, but the Jaguars would have to pay a pretty penny for the Browns to pass on Hunter and agree to a giant NFL draft trade.

Expect Several Blockbuster NFL Draft Trades

Not only will we see several trades involving first-round picks on Thursday night, but there could be several big-named players on the move. Possible trade candidates include Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, San Francisco 49ers wideout Brandon Aiyuk, Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson and Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
But perhaps no trade would be juicier than the Jaguars moving up into the No. 2 spot to take a can’t-miss prospect like Hunter. At any rate, we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out in the coming weeks.
