It appears Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns appear to be headed for an ugly divorce.
The All-Pro defensive end has requested a trade and wants to leave Cleveland, letting the team know back in February. They haven’t shown a willingness to acquiesce to date, with General Manager Andrew Berry stating in no uncertain terms that the DE was not available while speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Garrett, though, is still very keen on leaving and has since tried going over the GM’s head. According to insider Mary Kay Cabot, the six-time Pro Bowler requested a meeting with managing partner Jimmy Haslam but was turned down.
Haslam reportedly told the player to voice whatever concerns he has to Berry.
“Browns owner Jimmy Haslam recently declined Myles Garrett’s request to talk to him about his trade request, telling him to talk to GM Andrew Berry instead, a league source told cleveland.com,” Cabot reports.

“Haslam is adamant that Garrett needs to speak with Berry, who’s running the team and in charge of such matters. The Browns are aligned on their stance that they won’t trade their future Hall of Famer and 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.”
Myles Garrett Could Sit Games Out To Force His Way Out Of Cleveland

Myles Garrett is understood to be ready to sit games out to force his way out of Cleveland, something which the Browns are willing to risk at the moment.
So let me get this straight. Your best player is upset and doesn’t want to play for you anymore. He’d like to talk to you about his frustration. Instead of meeting with him, and perhaps attempting to change his mind or start a more amicable dialogue, you refuse? While at the same… https://t.co/4A3p9Pcxxx

Any trade would see the Browns land a smorgasbord of assets, including multiple early picks over the next few years. But they haven’t been swayed just yet, which could be due to the number of picks they have in the upcoming draft alone.
