NBC Sports NFL analyst Tony Dungy recently sent out a myth about litter boxes in schools in response to a video about trans children.
The former Indianapolis Colts coach was blasted online about it as many called for him to be fired.
“That’s nothing,” Dungy wrote on Twitter. “Some school districts are putting litter boxes in the school bathrooms for the students who identify as cats. Very important to address every student’s needs.”
Dungy had not spoken about the tweet until days later as eh relhesed a statement about it on Saturday.

“This past week I posted a tweet that I subsequently deleted,” Dungy said. “I issued an apology but not everyone saw it. So I am reposting my apology here. As a Christian I want to be a force for love to everyone. A force for healing and reconciliation-not for animosity.”
According to a report from Sports Illustrated, Dungy will be on the air for NBC Sports this Saturday.
This isn’t the first time Sunday Night Football has faced public backlash with sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya presenting similarly outspoken views before her departure last year. She defended anti-vaxxers during an appearance on The View.
So far, NBC has not shown any willingness to punish Dungy for his words.
