The XFL is kicking off on Saturday and fans are waiting with anticipation to see what the league can do a second time around after it folded after one season in the early 2000s.
Fans have already latched on to what teams they will be cheering for, and we know this because Betonline.ag used geotagged Twitter data gathered in the last month to find out which XFL team is most popular in each state.
Here’s the full breakdown:
St. Louis BattleHawks: 12 states
Seattle Dragons: 8 states
New York Guardians: 8 states
Tampa Bay Vipers: 6 states
DC Defenders: 5 states
Los Angeles Wildcats: 4 states
Dallas Renegades: 4 states
Houston Roughnecks: 3 states
“We welcome you to our brand of football,” McMahon said in his 2001 opening day speech before he growled, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the XFL.”
Instead of a coin toss, two players sprinted to the ball for possession.
The second version in 2020 promises less over-the-top entertainment and better football being played on the field.
Eight teams — Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Fla., and Washington — will kickoff Saturday and Sunday.
It’s a 10-week season that runs through the spring and ends with a championship game on April 26th.
