New Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter briefly interrupted his draft day presser to see if his old teammate would be taken by the New Orleans Saints.
Two giant stunners unfolded on day one of the 2025 NFL Draft: The Jaguars trading up via the Cleveland Browns to draft Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders going undrafted in round one.
Reminiscent of Will Levis at the 2023 NFL Draft, the highly-touted Sanders wasn’t called to the stage on day one. But there appeared to be one specific instance where Hunter was positive that his teammate was about to be taken.
Yahoo Sports shared a video on X/Twitter of Travis Hunter interrupting a reporter to see if the Saints would take Sanders at No. 9. When he heard the name of Texas offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. instead, Hunter proceeded with his presser:

The Jaguars acquired the No. 2, No. 104 and No. 200 picks from the Browns in exchange for the No. 5, No. 36 and No. 12 selections plus Jacksonville’s 2026 first-round pick. With the fifth selection, the Browns took Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham.
As for Sanders, it would be surprising if he was still available by the time the Browns finish picking at Nos. 33 and 36 in round two.

Travis Hunter Is The Ideal Fit In Jacksonville

As a can’t-miss prospect, Hunter was never going to land on an elite team in win-now mode. So in terms of bottom-tier teams, the Jaguars might be the best possible fit for the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner.
Hunter joins an offense led by Trevor Lawrence, Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Etienne Jr. If Hunter stays healthy, he and Thomas could emerge as the next great wide receiver tandem in the NFL.
