Russell Wilson wasted no time soaking in the New York spotlight after signing a one-year, $21 million deal with the Giants.
Hours after the contract was finalized, the 36-year-old quarterback went to Madison Square Garden alongside his wife, Ciara, to watch the Knicks take on the Clippers.
Seated on “Celebrity Row,” Wilson received a warm reception when introduced to the crowd. Taking full advantage of the moment, the Super Bowl-winning QB signed a basketball and launched it into the stands. The Knicks shared the clip on social media, captioning it: “Giving @DangeRussWilson a New York welcome.”

Wilson joins the Giants after a turbulent stint with the Broncos, where he failed to meet expectations following a blockbuster trade from Seattle. Now, in New York, he faces a competitive quarterback room that includes Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito. The Giants also hold the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, leaving Wilson’s long-term role uncertain.
Despite the online ribbing, Wilson remained optimistic about his fresh start. “I expect to be the starter and to be able to come here and rock and roll every day,” he said in his introductory press conference. “This team’s looking for somebody to lead them in every way.”
While fans may enjoy Wilson’s Garden moment, the real test begins when he steps onto the field in a Giants uniform. Whether he silences critics or fuels more memes remains uncertain.
