Everson Griffen really did not want to kill a deer, but now it is going to cost him some time on the field.
Griffen will miss Sunday’s Vikings game against the Cardinals after he was involved in a car accident.
Head coach Mike Zimmer said Friday that the defensive end was driving a car to the team’s headquarters when he swerved to miss a deer, resulting in a car accident. He showed up on the injury report Thursday with a concussion, and has since been ruled out for Sunday’s game.
The 33-year-old played 28 snaps on defense for Minnesota last week.
Overall, Griffen’s 80.5 career sacks rank 15th among active players. He is seventh in Vikings history with 74.5.
