Cameras caught one Edmonton Oilers fan knocking another out cold with a vicious slap during the Game 5 watch party on Thursday night.
The Edmonton Oilers soundly defeated the Dallas Stars 6-3 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final to set up a Stanley Cup Final rematch with the Florida Panthers. One year after eliminating their longtime rivals in six games during the WCF, Edmonton made much easier work of the Stars.
Hockey fans who follow Oilers content on social media have probably come across the (many) videos of Edmonton fans fighting at the city’s downtown Ice District. But this physical altercation involving two Oilers supporters was much different.
The @Yegwave social media account shared a video of one Oilers fan standing still and, apparently, challenging another Edmonton supporter to slap them. The result? The fan getting knocked out cold with the big-time slap:

We’re honestly not sure what exactly caused that, and if the two fans knew each other. But let’s just hope that the Edmonton Oilers fan who got knocked out is okay and didn’t suffer any serious injuries.
Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final is set for next Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. EST. Unlike last year, the Oilers will have home ice advantage for the rematch. We’ll see if they can win their first championship since 1990, and if they can become the first Canadian team to capture Lord Stanley’s mug since 1993.

Edmonton Oilers Look To Follow Florida Panthers’ Blueprint

The Panthers made a surprise run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2023, but they were dispatched by the Vegas Golden Knights in five games. A year later, Florida completed the story and defeated Edmonton in seven games to win their first championship.
One year later, the Oilers look to follow the same blueprint by going from runner-up to Stanley Cup champion. All that’s standing in their way is the very Florida team that outlasted them in a thrilling back-and-forth series a year ago.
