The Edmonton Oilers ruthlessly trolled Hollywood star Will Ferrell during their Game 6 home win against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.
In a thrilling back-and-forth affair, Connor McDavid and the Oilers defeated the Kings 5-4 to win the series in six games. And with that, the Kings’ season ended at the hands of Edmonton in the first round for the fourth consecutive year.
Will Ferrell is a well-known Kings superfan who frequently attends games at Crypto.com Arena. Television cameras often show the Step Brothers and Elf star in front-row seats with Kings merchandise.
But the Oilers couldn’t help but poke fun at the Kings’ beloved celebrity fan during Game 6 at Rogers Place. During a stoppage in play, the home club posted a photoshopped image of Ferrell in Oilers gear and colors.
They then had Ferrell “lead” a “Go Oilers Go” chant with the help of a dubbing:

Well played, Oilers. Very well played.
Hey, with his beloved Kings eliminated, maybe Ferrell will hop on the Oilers’ bandwagon and tip his hat to the very club that keeps eliminating his team?

With the Los Angeles Lakers getting eliminated in five games by the Minnesota Timberwolves one day earlier, it certainly hasn’t been a kind spring for sports fans in La La Land. We’ll see if the Los Angeles Clippers can reverse their fortunes when they visit the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of the opening round.
Another Long Offseason Awaits Will Ferrell’s Kings

Kings GM Rob Blake has made several blockbuster splashes over the last three years to try and combat McDavid and Edmonton, but nothing has worked.
Something has to change in Los Angeles after a fourth straight opening round loss to the Oilers. Whether that’s a GM change, a swap behind the bench or another big-time trade, it’s clear that the Kings need to try something new if they’re to ever get over the hump.
