Former NHL second-round pick Brendan Lemieux, now playing overseas for HC Davos in the National League in Switzerland, has been suspended four games for punching a referee during a scrum last week.
Brendan Lemieux and HC Davos were facing the ZSC Lions in game three of their playoff series last week when a scrum broke out following a whistle.
Lemieux and ZSC’s Chris Baltisberger exchanged punches during the brawl, prompting linesman Dominik Altmann to step in and break it up. Lemieux wouldn’t stop his part in the brawl, and he sent Altmann down with a brutal punch:

According to Scouting the Refs, Brendan Lemieux was initially suspended for just one game, but it was increased to four after a review. Dominik Schlagel had to come in and replace Altmann, and Lemieux will pay a fine of roughly $7,500 USD.
The 29-year-old Lemieux is the son of former NHL tough guy Claude Lemieux, who won four Stanley Cups during his career as one of the game’s top pests. Lemieux won it all with the Montreal Canadiens (1986), the New Jersey Devils (1995 and 2000), and Colorado Avalanche (1996).
In December, Brendan signed a three-year contract with the HC Davos club after being waived by the Hurricanes.
