President Donald Trump called out Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after Team Canada emerged victorious over Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game on Thursday night.
The highly anticipated final between the Canadians and Americans was extra hyped and emotional because of political tensions between the historic allies. Donald Trump suggested that Canada become the 51st state, and the two leaders threatened to impose tariffs on the other country before agreeing to halt them.
Connor McDavid scored the game-winning goal in overtime to clinch a 3-2 victory for Canada in the championship game. McDavid rifled the game-winning shot over Connor Hellebuyck to give Canada its fourth straight victory in a best-on-best tournament.
After Canada won, Justin Trudeau Trudeau took to X/Twitter and seemingly took a shot at Donald Trump with a pair of posts:
You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game.

“Well, we won the first game and the second game was a great game. The game was a fantastic game. I watched the end of it. I was making a speech to the governors of our country, so I couldn’t watch most of it.
But I watched the end. It was a great game. Both teams played really well. I thought it was terrific. I congratulate the Canadian team because the American team was fantastic.. Justin’s a loser — always has been..I think he’s done a very bad job for Canada. He’s taken it radical left…He’s going to lose the election, it looks like pretty big, if he even runs.”

Trump has been highly critical of Trudeau during his two terms as president. In 2018, Trump called the Canadian Prime Minister “meek and wild” for his behavior during the G7 meetings.
