Chloe Skinner, the wife of Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, is tired of the disgusting messages that her family is receiving from their own fan base.
Skinner allowed five goals on 23 shots in Game 3, and he was pulled out of the game as a result.
From the bench, Skinner watched the final 16:33 of the Game 3 massacre, a 6-1 win for the Florida Panthers.
Fans were understandably upset, but some of them took things way too far.
Being the wife of an NHL athlete certainly has its perks, but it can come with some serious downfalls that many may not realize.
Chloe Skinner, the wife of Edmonton Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner, made an appearance on the Breaking the Ice podcast, where she revealed that she had gotten death threats from certain individuals.
“We have a very passionate fan base, and the people here live and breathe for the Oilers,” Chloe said.

“It’s a tale as old as time, where the goalie is the punching bag a bit. This year definitely got intense. There was times where security had to be involved. I specifically have DMs filled with death threats towards the kids, towards myself, from anonymous accounts [with] people hiding behind their screens.
“It can get really ugly, people threatening if they ever see us, they’re going to take us out. It gets intense, and I’m making it lighthearted right now, but when I do read those, I get really scared, and I do obviously worry for the safety of my family and my young boys. It’s terrifying to think that there might be people out there who are going to hurt us over the result of a game. It is a little deranged.”
Chloe also revealed that while her husband has social media accounts, he isn’t the one running them.
Skinner himself has praised Oilers fans and the passion they bring throughout the season. However, this is a harsh reminder of what these athletes and their families are forced to deal with when some fans take their passion way too far.
Oilers Goalie Stuart Skinner Not For Sure Starting Game 4

Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final turned into a disaster for the Edmonton Oilers, and starting Stuart Skinner’s rough outing quickly became a talking point.
The 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers saw Knoblauch pull Skinner after he allowed five goals on 23 shots.
Knoblauch didn’t commit to a Game 4 starter when addressing the media on Monday.
“No, we haven’t made a decision on goaltending,” Knoblauch said. “And Stu, I don’t think had much chance on many of those goals.
“We’re not playing very well in front of him,” Knoblauch said.
“So I think it’s one, just allowing Picks some playing time, but also give Stu some time off.”
With the prospect of facing a 3-1 deficit against the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final for a second consecutive season, Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch might have to stick with Stuart Skinner.
