Simone Biles is taking proper heat on social media following her reaction to a tweet from Riley Gaines on Friday.
Gaines, who has been outspoken in her criticism of trans inclusion in women’s sports, trolled a Minnesota girls’ high school softball team after they won a state championship, pointing out that they fielded a boy as their star player.
Biles made Gaines a target, calling her a sick bully and a sore loser, prompting an exchange. Gaines referred to Biles’ own struggles amid the Larry Nassar abuse scandal, with several top names in the sports world lashing out at the gymnast.
Sage Steele, formerly of ESPN, was among them.
“Shocked and disappointed that you’d attack another woman who has done nothing but uplift other women,” Steele wrote in a lengthy tweet.
“Simone Biles is……..sick,” she concluded.

“This is retarded. You should be protecting women,” Jason Whitlock wrote.
Simone Biles’ Husband Roped Into Fresh Controversy
Jon Root criticized both Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, branding the NFL safety a “weak leader.”
“This whole Riley Gaines vs Simone Biles feud not only exposed Simone as anti-woman, but exposed her husband, Jonathan Owens as a weak leader in their marriage.”
The backlash doesn’t appear to have done anything to change Simone’s mind, as her tweet is still up.
