Simone Biles finds herself in the hot seat this week, and the criticism isn’t just coming from fans. Former U.S. Olympic gymnast MyKayla Skinner has entered the conversation, calling out Biles for comments she made during a public feud with former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines. The dispute stems from Gaines criticizing the participation of an alleged transgender athlete on a Minnesota high school softball team, remarks that Biles slammed as “bullying.”
Biles, an 11-time Olympic medalist, didn’t hold back when she responded to Gaines online, labeling her a “sore loser” and accusing her of targeting the trans community instead of advocating for inclusivity in sports. The post quickly went viral, drawing praise and backlash alike. Though Biles has since apologized, the backlash hasn’t quieted, and Skinner’s voice just added fuel to the fire.
Skinner Criticizes Biles For Undermining Female Athletes

Speaking to One America News, Skinner shared her take on the situation, siding firmly with Gaines. “As an athlete who has dedicated years to a sport, I’ve always believed that true competition should elevate us, not diminish others,” Skinner said. “That’s why it’s deeply troubling to see Simone Biles publicly label a fellow female athlete a ‘sore loser’—simply for expressing valid concerns about fairness in women’s sports.”

Skinner didn’t stop there. She praised Gaines for taking a stance and called her a voice for women in athletics. “Women like her are not only standing for fairness, but for the future of female athletics itself. She deserves support, not ridicule.”
She also opened up about her own history with Biles, revealing tensions that date back to 2024. That year, Skinner publicly criticized the work ethic of certain U.S. gymnasts, a comment that didn’t sit well with Biles. “Throughout my own career, I endured being belittled, dismissed, and ostracized behind the scenes by Simone,” Skinner said. “The pressure to stay silent was immense. I kept quiet out of respect—for the sport, for my teammates, and for the ideal of unity among athletes.”

But Skinner says Biles crossed a line this time. “It’s one thing to disagree. It’s another to use your platform to bully and demean,” she said. “No one should be punished for standing up for fairness and biological reality.” Biles hasn’t responded to Skinner’s remarks yet. Whether she chooses to remains to be seen.
