As if the 2022 FIFA World Cup wasn’t already riddled with controversial issues, it’s been reported that the girlfriend of Argentina’s Lautaro Martinez had to be taken to a hospital after finding glass in her drink while on an outing at a club in Doha.
That is according to The Sun, which reports that Agustina Gandolfo was out with her sister and her sister’s partner celebrating Argentina’s win over Croatia on Tuesday when the party summoned security, having found a piece of glass inside a bottle.
Fortunately, medics determined Agustina was fine after examining her.
Following what must have been a proper scare, Agustina reportedly fielded accusations claiming she and her group put the glass in their own drinks on purpose. “A disgrace, we have the complaint and witnesses at the club,” she said in denial.
Agustina and Lautaro had a daughter, Nina Martinez, last February.
Argentina will play current World Champions, France, in the World Cup final on Sunday. There were major concerns after La Albiceleste lost their first group-stage match at the start of the tournament. They have since bounced back to book themselves a place in the final, doing so before France beat Morocco to make a return to the championship decider.
More Argentina WAG Trouble
In unrelated news, the Daily Mail reported that some wives, girlfriends, and children of Argentina players were forced out of their five-star Waterfront hotel because of a power outage on Wednesday night.
The guests, who harbored safety concerns, relocated to another luxury resort on an island.
