An 18-year-old soccer player named Camilo Nuin has passed away under extraordinary circumstances.
Nuin, who hailed from Argentina and played for San Telmo in Buenos Aires, died on Wednesday evening, with his team confirming as much. The player was undergoing a routine knee surgery that he would never wake up from.
The cause of the midfielder’s death is unknown at the moment; however, an investigation is underway.
Camilo Nuin was a member of the Boca Juniors and Independiente academies before moving to San Telmo in Argentina’s second tier in 2022.

Coaches described him as a technically sound, intelligent player with a great work ethic and remarkable poise, and his left foot gave him an advantage in distribution and set-piece situations.
Nuin was vaunted as someone who would have little difficulty rising through the ranks of Argentine soccer and could have potentially gone on to have a career in Europe.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Camilo Ernesto Nuin, a player in our youth and reserve divisions, who was undergoing surgery today,” San Telmo said. “The club will remain closed today as a sign of mourning.”
“A very sad piece of news that shakes the entire football world,” President of the Argentine Football Association Claudio Tapia wrote.
We at TPS extend sympathies to Camilo’s family, friends, loved ones, and his soccer club.
May he rest in peace.
