Morant was not ranked by most top recruiting services when entering college, but was discovered by mid-major Murray State of the OVC. He earned first-team all-conference as a freshman and led the NCAA in assists in his sophomore year, earning him first-team All-American. He was drafted second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. Ja Morant’s contract was a four-year, $39.6 million rookie deal with the Grizzlies.
