Sean O’Malley has weighed in on Dana White’s domestic violence incident which took place on New Year’s eve and most people are wishing he never opened his mouth at all.
UFC president White was caught on camera in a physical altercation with his wife Anna at a nightclub in Sabo San Lucas, Mexico. He would soon release an apology and offer no excuse for his actions.
On his podcast published Friday, O’Malley gave his thoughts on the situation and they were about it as blunt as you expected.
“Oh God, speaking of knocking btches out,” O’Malley stated as he began to discuss the incident on his podcast “BrOMalley” with his brother Daniel O’Malley. “… This happened New Year’s, and it came out Monday, which is rare. TMZ sht usually comes out instantly. They got a good PR behind (them).”
The rising UFC bantamweight contender thought White was sincere with his apology, but stated his wife deserved to be slapped because she swung first.
“I feel bad for Dana,” O’Malley said. “His wife slapped him. That is rude. And it deserves a slapping back. I don’t know. I don’t know. It’s a tricky one. I don’t know, treat people how you want to be treated.”
He added if both had not been drinking, the altercation would’ve never taken place. O’Malley sees the moment as a mistake by White under the influence of alcohol.
“Sober, would he have ever done that? No,” O’Malley said. “I would assume sober, no drinks, she slaps him, I don’t think his initial reaction is slap back. When that alcohol is flowing, I’ve never hit Dani. I’ve never hit a girl. But I’ve been blacked out, and I’ve done things that I can’t believe I’ve done.
“… I don’t think it was right. I don’t think obviously you shouldn’t hit, especially a little girl like that, but alcohol is flowing, she hit him first, it was a nice counter, she should have kept her hands up, you know what I mean? A little head movement. If you’re going to slap, you got to be ready to slap. You got to continue with that combo. She should have hit him with a 1-2, not just a 2, pulled, slipped – but no, it’s not right. They’re going to lose a lot of business.”
Dana White’s slap-fighting league was slated to debut on TBS this week, but his altercation with his wife pushed it back. Power Slap is now scheduled to debut on Jan. 18th.
