Friday night brought a mix of emotions for Angel Reese, but by Saturday morning, the mood was all celebration. Even though the Chicago Sky fell to the Golden State Valkyries, Reese gave fans something else to cheer about. She pulled down 18 rebounds and scored 17 points, tying the WNBA record for the longest streak of games with at least 15 boards. But that wasn’t the only milestone the Reese family celebrated this weekend.
While Angel continued dominating the paint, her brother Julian Reese made a major leap of his own. The former Maryland star signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 6-foot-9 forward will have his shot to impress during the upcoming NBA Summer League, a big opportunity for any young player looking to break through.
Julian didn’t chase the transfer portal trend. He stayed all four years at Maryland and put up 13.3 points and 9.0 rebounds in his senior season. Maryland head coach Kevin Willard didn’t hold back his admiration.
“I really believe one day Julian’s number will be hanging from the rafters,” Willard said. “In an era where kids showed no loyalty… this young man didn’t transfer.”
Fans Pour In Support

Social media quickly lit up with support for the Reese family. From college hoops fans to WNBA and NBA watchers, everyone seemed to be pulling for Julian.

Angel, meanwhile, stayed locked in with the Sky as she continues what’s turning into an All-Star caliber season. She remains one of the league’s most consistent rebounders and toughest matchups, but the weekend wasn’t just about numbers on the stat sheet.
For the Reeses, this weekend was about recognition and reward. Angel keeps making WNBA history. Julian gets his NBA shot with one of the biggest franchises in basketball. And the fans? They’re loving every second of it.
Julian will be ready for the Lakers in Summer League action on July 10 against the Dallas Mavericks. Whether he sticks with the squad or not, the Reese family is already making noise, and people are watching.
