Paige Bueckers’ next move has been decided, according to WNBA sources.
With the draft less than two days away, there is still some apprehension over the former UConn Huskies guard, although she has confirmed she will be in attendance amid what is considered to be a problematic recruitment year for the league.
Bueckers is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick come Monday. The Dallas Wings currently hold the pick, and one reporter has revealed that there is growing confidence around the league that the former Connecticut standout will sign a contract with the team should they draft her.
“Increasing confidence around the league that Paige Bueckers, if drafted by the Wings, will sign in Dallas,” Howard Megdal tweeted on Saturday.
Increasing confidence around the league that Paige Bueckers, if drafted by the Wings, will sign in Dallas. A huge coup for Curt Miller and Greg Bibb if it comes to pass – especially in a year almost all other prospects chose to stay in school. #WNBADraft @TheNextHoops

Dallas Landing Paige Bueckers Would Be A Huge Deal

Megdal added that it would be a massive deal for the team, given that most of the other top prospects opted to remain in college for at least another year.

The likes of Olivia Miles (Notre Dame), Flau’jae Johnson (LSU), and Azzi Fudd (UConn) are all going back to school instead of entering the draft.
There are still some big names set to move up to the pros in 2025, yet none as big as Bueckers.
