Paige Bueckers’s newest teammate referred to the Dallas Wings rookie as “cute” shortly after arriving on the team.
The Wings brought in WNBA veteran Li Yueru over the weekend, trading a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick to bring in the Chinese center from the Seattle Storm.
The 6ft 7in big has been playing in the WNBA since 2022, with the Chicago Sky bringing her to America.
She let it slip that she thinks Bueckers is “cute” after she was asked for her initial impression of the talented point guard.
“Yesterday with the news, a lot of friends told me, ‘Wow, you will play with Paige!’ And I said, ‘Yes, I do, mmm-hmm!’” she said. “They said a lot of fans love her, and they said she’s the best.”
“I just said hi this morning with her,” she added. “So I hope we can do something on the court, and I hope we can build something together.”

We May Have To Chalk Paige Bueckers Being Referred To As “Cute” To The Language Barrier, Although She Is…

You don’t usually hear athletes describing their teammates as “cute,” but we have to factor in the language barrier, as English is not Li’s first language.
Fortunately, Paige Bueckers being her teammate is not the only reason the Chinese star is happy to join Dallas. She’s mostly excited to get back to playing regular basketball, which is why she came to the United States.
“I don’t feel I have enough time on the court,” she said last week. “I came here only to play the game. I’m really happy and appreciative because I know many teammates, I’ve made many new friends and know many different staff, coach. These really let me feel happy, and I’m so glad for that, but playing is one of the important things for me.”
“I just want to play,” Li continued. “I came to America only for one reason — just that I want to play basketball.”
Hopefully, she can help the team win some games as they have gotten off to an awful 1-11 start to the season and haven’t won since May 27, while sitting at seventh in the Western Conference.
