Hulk Hogan fans had a rough wake-up call this week when a wild rumor started making the rounds, claiming the wrestling legend might be on his deathbed.
The claim didn’t come from some shady corner of the internet; it came straight from the mic of Bubba the Love Sponge, a longtime radio personality and former close friend of Hogan’s. Bubba said he heard Hogan “might not make it” after a recent hospital visit, adding that the information came from a trusted source.
But within hours, the panic started to settle. TMZ jumped in and did what they do best, fact-check the chaos.
According to their report, Hogan’s rep shut the rumor down hard. The rep told TMZ that Hogan, now 71, isn’t in immediate danger. He’s just been managing the same wear-and-tear issues he’s dealt with for years, and yes, he’s still up and moving around.

TMZ’s report made it clear: Hogan’s health hasn’t taken a sudden turn for the worse. “The 71-year-old isn’t close to death,” their story reads. “He’s just dealing with more of the same ailments he’s had for years.” That includes a long list of surgeries tied to his wrestling career, from his back to his knees and even recent work on his neck. Hogan, for his part, seems to be recovering steadily and staying active.

Fans didn’t hold back after Bubba’s comments went viral.
One user slammed him on social media, calling it “the most irresponsible broadcasting I’ve ever heard.”
That is the most irresponsible broadcasting I've ever heard. You should be banned from ever speaking into a microphone again. Hack

Another said bluntly, “Not looking good for your sources because they flat out lied.” While the Hulkster may have rubbed some people the wrong way in recent years, the outpouring of relief after TMZ’s update shows people still care.

Hogan’s been in the headlines lately for more than just health talk. He was booed by the WWE crowd in Los Angeles not too long ago, and more surprisingly, he’s now trying to help save Hooters by investing in the struggling restaurant chain.
For now, though, the only thing fans need to know is this: Hogan’s still standing. Or at least walking. And the rumors of his demise? Pure fiction.
