You’d think John Cena showing up in a pinstriped suit, flashing a smile and holding his wife’s hand would be enough to make fans go crazy. But nope. The internet had other plans.
The moment the Heads of State star turned up at Wimbledon with his stunning wife Shay Shariatzadeh, fans completely ignored the fashion, the romance, and the high-profile screening buzz. Why? Because, in true Cena fashion, people claimed they couldn’t see him.
The 48-year-old actor and former WWE champion, who’s become known as much for his “You Can’t See Me” catchphrase as his action roles, leaned into the moment. Fans, on the other hand, went all in with jokes that pretty much wrote themselves.
Fans All Made The Same Joke After John Cena’s Surprise Appearance

A third joked, “Why they showing an empty seat?” That joke never gets old, and clearly, Cena fans haven’t lost their touch.

The rare outing with Shay, 36, quickly became a trending topic, not just for their coordinated black-and-white looks (him in a sleek pinstriped suit, her in a black minidress with a bold white bow), but for the way the internet refused to let go of the meme.
Even though the couple usually keeps things private, they didn’t shy away from the cameras this time. Cena gave fans a peace sign in front of Tower Bridge, and Shay was stunned in stilettos and pearl drop earrings. But still, the joke lingered louder than the flashbulbs.
The pair also posed with co-stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas ahead of the release of Heads of State, the new Amazon Prime Video action comedy in which Cena plays a movie star-turned-President alongside Idris Elba.
While the internet laughed, the couple looked relaxed and happy. And maybe that’s the real win here, visibility jokes aside, Cena finally stepped into the media attention, and Shay was right there with him. Even if, according to fans, “he wasn’t there at all.”
