Wrestling legend Ric Flair is facing significant criticism from the sports entertainment world over his comments on fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer.
On his Twitter and Instagram accounts, Ric Flair accused Jim Ross of always “seeking attention” and told the AEW commentator to stay focused on his recovery. JR underwent successful surgery following the cancer diagnosis and said he fully plans to be at next month’s “All In” pay-per-view.
Here’s the comment from Flair:

Flair has since deleted the post on both accounts and told the critics to take a joke:
If You Can’t Take A Joke From A 76 Year Old Man, Then You Are Living Life Too Seriously. It Was All Harmless, Lighthearted Fun! Just Trying To Make People Laugh & Smile!

In another post, Ric Flair tried to downplay speculation of a rift with Jim Ross. Flair said that JR is on his Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling announcers and clarified that they merely have differences of opinion.

Flair left WWE in 2021 after the company granted his request to be released from his contract. Ross briefly returned to WWE from 2017 to 2019 before joining AEW after the new promotion started in the fall of that year. Ross

It’s not exactly clear what prompted Flair to make the comments about Ross seeking attention in the first place. But in 2022, Flair called out Ross for comments the announcer made in an episode of Vice’s “Dark Side of the Ring” documentary TV series.
Ross was interviewed in a 2021 episode, “The Plane from Hell,” where Flair was accused of sexual harassment by two flight attendants. Ross was critical of the way WWE talents behaved on that flight, saying he “was very upset” before calling it “a black eye to be affiliated with” the incident.
Ric Flair said that JR “lost every bit of credibility with” following the comments on the show and accused the AEW commentator of trying to stay “relevant.”
