This week, XFL 2020 commissioner Oliver Luck recently had a sit-down interview with the TB Times to speak on various topics before the the start of the much-anticipated XFL 2020 season.
Luck spoke on various topics that included why the league hadn’t brought in Johnny Manziel and Trent Richardson as well as his feeling on Colin Kaepernick.
“I think his salary demands are way out of our ballpark. He was never really a viable option,” Luck stated as to why Kaepernick has not been considered for the XFL.
It was reported earlier this year that the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback talked with XFL executives last fall about possibly playing for the league, but Sporting News’ Michael McCarthy noted that Kaepernick was seeking at least $20 million to play in the XFL. A steep price the league wasn’t willing to pay.
Kaepernick has not played football professionally since the 2016 NFL season where he completed just 59.2 percent of his passes for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions in 12 games for San Francisco.
Kaepernick went 1-10 in his final year with the 49ers, something that did not help him as he dealt with a season of controversy for his taking a knee during the national anthem to protest against racial injustice and police violence.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
