A former NFL star is quickly making an impact in the XFL.
Former Atlanta Falcons standout Vic Beasley is now playing for the Vegas Vipers of the XFL. The league relaunched last weekend after a three-year hiatus under the ownership of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale.
Beasley’s Vipers hosted the D.C. Defenders in the lone XFL game on Saturday. In the waning seconds of the first half, Beasley scooped up a loose football following a strip-sack:
That defensive play was one of the few highlights for the Vipers, who fell 18-6 to the Defenders in Saturday’s action. The win moved the Defenders to 2-0 on the season, while Vegas now sits at 0-2.
The 30-year-old Beasley was drafted eighth overall by the Falcons back in 2015. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2016 after notching 15.5 sacks, helping the Falcons to a Super Bowl 51 appearance.
Beasley would never get close to that 15.5-sack total again, however. From 2017 to 2020, he never finished with more than eight sacks in a campaign. His last NFL season (2020), was split with the Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders.
In 88 career NFL games, Beasley had 37.5 sacks, 12 pass defenses and 11 forced fumbles.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
