The XFL isn’t going to be a serious competitor with the NFL, but the relaunched league has several amazing features that Roger Goodell and company might want to look at stealing.
On Saturday, the Vegas Vipers visited the Arlington Renegades in the first game of the 2023 XFL relaunch. The ESPN broadcast of the game revealed an awesome feature that allows viewers to hear the offensive coordinator communicating with the quarterback on a play call.
In the clip below, you can hear Jonathan Hayes, the co-offensive coordinator of the Renegades, directing a play to quarterback to quarterback Drew Plitt:
WWE head Vince McMahon launched the XFL back in 2001, but it was shut down after one season. IN 2018, McMahon announced in a press conference that he was bringing back the league, with a relaunch planned for 2020.
The 2020 season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the XFL could go to auction, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, business partner Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale (the founder of RedBird Capital Partners) came in and purchased the league.
There are eight teams in the XFL this year. The league will have 10 regular season weeks, with the playoffs slated to begin on Apr. 29-30 weekend. The championship game will be played on May. 13, with ABC carrying the game broadcast.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
