Back in November, an anonymous bettor walked into Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook and thought to himself that he would put down a futures bet on the Texas Tech Red Raiders to win the National Championship, a program that had only been to the Elite 8 once in school history.

He clearly knew something because the Red Raiders made it all the way to the Title game. The fan put $1,500 on the Red Raiders, who at the time had +20,000 odds to win.

Along the way, the guy was offered $125K to sell the ticket. He passed on it.

A $1,500 bet to win $300,000.

He even turned down NFL WR Dez Bryant:

Monday night, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were so close to winning in regulation, only to watch the wheels fall off in overtime as the Virginia Cavaliers won the National Title.

According to Darren Rovell, the guy did hedge, but we are not sure what he went home with. It certainly wasn’t anything near the $125K he was previously offered.
