Just in case you haven’t heard for the millionth time, Seth and Steph Curry are related and playing each other deep into the playoffs.
During Game 1 of the Western Conference finals between the Warriors and Trail Blazers — Seth Curry struggled mightily from the field as the Warriors went on for a blowout victory to take a 1-0 series lead.
Maybe there was a chance he would’ve been better from the field if he accepted a dinner invitation from Ayesha Curry the night before.
The Athletic explains:
“He received a text message from his sister-in-law, Ayesha Curry, asking if he wanted to come by for some last-minute bread breaking before their unprecedented basketball battle … with his family members enjoying each other’s company at Steph and Ayesha’s home, the 28-year-old Seth stayed sequestered with his teammates in San Francisco.
“It was a normal routine for me (on Monday), man,” Seth said. “I was just with the team, preparing for the game. Everybody was at Steph’s house, and I’m in San Francisco. Nah, I’m not in the mood (for a family get-together). I’m definitely not in the mood. …I respectfully declined.”
Game 2 was much better for Seth and Blazers, but a late push by the Warriors still scored them a victory and a commanding 2-0 series lead.
“It worked out perfectly tonight,” Stephen Curry joked after the game. “He played well, and we won.” The room laughed. It was the perfect older brother thing to say. But damn it, Seth Curry wanted this one. And Sonya wanted it for him, too.
