Donald Trump Lobbies For Disgraced Pete Rose To Be Inducted Into Hall of Fame (TWEET)
The conversation surrounding Pete Rose being reinstated popped back up in 2020 after Rose submitted his own request in the wake of the Houston Astros’ cheating scandal.
Now, he has a friend in a high place that is trying to help him with that.
On Saturday, President Donald Trump took to Twitter and put his full support behind Rose to be inducted to Cooperstown.
Rose received a lifetime ban in 1989 for gambling on baseball while serving as manager of the Cincinnati Reds.
In 24 seasons in the MLB, Rose recorded 4,256 hits over 3,562 games with a lifetime slash line of .303/.375/.409.
The 17-time all-star eclipsed 200 hits in 10 different seasons and won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1963 and NL MVP in 1973.
His last reinstatement attempt came in 2015, but that was rejected by commissioner Rob Manfred.
