A nine-year-old Australian boy who went super viral this week after crying about being relentlessly bullied had the time of his life when he was given an extraordinary opportunity to run the field before the NRL match between the Indigenous All-Stars and the New Zealand Maori Kiwis All-Stars today at Cbus Super Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia.

Quaden Bayles captured the hearts of millions of people around the world when his mother posted a video of him crying after picking him from school. He said at one point, “Give me a knife, I want to kill myself.”

Celebrities including actor Hugh Jackman spoke out:

Ms. Bayles said she hoped her son’s experience was raising awareness over the effects of bullying.

“We are losing way too many people because of bullying, because of discrimination, because of racism. There’s so many factors of bullying,” she said.

“On top of that, being an Aboriginal boy with a disability, people don’t understand that’s a double-edged sword. There’s racism and then there’s discrimination because of the disability.”

The Maori All Stars won the game 30-16.
