Jemele Hill Has Bone To Pick With ‘White Coaches’ Being Branded As Geniuses & Not Black Head Coaches (TWEET)

Celtics coach Brad Stevens has been trending for weeks as he rejected rumors time and time again that he would leave Boston to return to college and become the coach of the Indiana Hoosiers.

Indiana was prepared to offer a 7-year, $70 million to Stevens to take over the Indiana program, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Saturday.

Jemele Hill found a problem with that.

Hill responded to a tweet that called out why Indiana “was ready to pay Brad Stevens $70 million,” but “Mike Woodson took the job for $18 million.”

“All of this. Brad Stevens is a good coach, but when white coaches get branded as geniuses, their value skyrockets. Meanwhile, black coaches with similar resumes are undervalued because perception sets the market more than reality.”

Stevens currently has the Celtics trending in the right direction as they’ve won six games in a row and are currently 5th in the Eastern Conference.
