Jake Paul was not on the card for UFC 261, but still made himself big part of the event just by showing up to watch.
Paul, who got Daniel Cormier’s finger stuck in his face as he stood on the arena floor at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, was also serenaded by the crowd with “Fuck Jake Paul” chants.
UFC President Dana White was aksed about the Paul-Cormier altercation and somehow snuck a diss about Triller Fight Club in his comments.
The former, he said, is “doing something right.” The latter is “a freakshow.”
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This kid’s done a good job of putting himself in a place to make some money, man,” White said at the post-UFC 261 press conference. “So, good for him. He’s got you guys talking about him all the time and asking questions about him. He’s got Daniel Cormier running after him, so he’s doing something right.”
“He knocked out an NBA guy that was 40 years old and 30 pounds less than him,” White said. “I don’t even know what to think about the Askren thing. The whole thing is f*cking mind-boggling to me, but good for him. Grab that money while you can, kid.”
Paul is a YouTube star who is 3-0 to begin his professional boxing career, which includes wins over former NBA player Nate Robinson and former MMA competitor Ben Askren.
