The fight everybody was waiting to see went down at UFC 261 at Jacksonville Arena on Saturday night. At UFC 251 last year, Usman beat Masvidal via unanimous decision in a fairly one-sided bout, but it should be noted that Masdival came into that fight on just six days’ notice after Usman’s initially scheduled opponent, Gilbert Burns, tested positive for the coronavirus.
UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Masdival fought in front of a capacity crowd since before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down spectator sports in March 2020. The match delivered.
In the 2nd round, Usman left no doubt this time as he knocked out Masvidal to retain his title.
