Ben Simmons clearly does not care about having a future with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Australian basketball player was thrown out of practice by head coach Doc Rivers on Tuesday and will miss the next game against the New Orleans Pelicans after he was suspended because of his actions. He was reportedly sent home after not being engaged during the practice session, and the NBA announced that his suspension was due to “conduct detrimental to the team”.
A report on Twitter is now stating he blew off steam by taking his talents to a strip club right after. The news was shared by Sports and Entertainment Journalist Landon Buford who claimed Ben attended a strip and gentleman’s club called Delilah’s, which is located just 11 minutes away from Wells fargo Center.
He only cited a ‘Philly source’ but there were no pictures or videos to actually prove that it happened. Take this information with a grain a salt.
However, at this point, Simmons is trying to do whatever he can to get traded from the 76ers, so we wouldn’t put it past him.
One person wrote: “So, Ben Simmons got himself thrown out of practice, got suspended for the Sixers’ first game, and went straight to the strip club?! Whew. It’s always hilariously soap opera-y when star athletes decide they’re done playing with a particular team.”
“Delilah’s strip club has suspended Ben Simmons for refusing to throw money onto the stage,” joked another.
A third person added: “You have to respect Ben Simmons getting kicked out of practice and going right to the strip club for some wings.”
Rivers wanted to keep the why on how Simmons got the boot internal, telling one reporter: “That’s none of your business.” However, Shams Charania reported that the incident was over a defensive drill that Simmons refused to participate in.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski noted that Simmons has been fined $1.4 million for missing four preseason games, among other financial punishments. He hasn’t received a single dollar since returning to the Sixers on October 11.
