Back in April, Tom Brady bought a digital picture of a cartoon ape for $430,000. According to Boardroom, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback bought Bored Ape #3667.
That decision has proven to be very costly. The legendary quarterback has reportedly lost quite a bit of value on his recent crypto investment, according to Business Insider.
Via the report:
“But its value has plummeted in the four months since — 133 ether is now worth $235,436, and the best offer his NFT, #3667, has is 77 ether, or $136,034.31, meaning its worth has dropped by 68%.”
Unlike others who have also lost money in NFT’s and Bitcoin, Brady has plenty of cash to spare from his playing career as well as a post-retirement, 10-year, $375 million broadcasting contract with Fox in May.
Basically, he lost change in between his couch.
Brady was magnificent in his third season in Tampa, throwing for a career-high 5,316 yards along with 43 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
He rocked the NFL when he announced his retirement on Feb. 1 following the end of a disappointing Buccaneers season by his standards. However, he reversed course just over a month later, announcing on social media that he would be coming back for his 23rd NFL season.
