A cracking helmet-to-helmet hit that took place in a lacrosse game between Duke and Notre Dame has left fans stunned.
The teams played each other in the college lacrosse national championship game on Monday, and it was a feisty affair as a Duke defender leveled a Fighting Irish opponent with a vicious helmet-to-helmet tackle that doesn’t look like it has any place in the sport.
Such a clash would have definitely seen a flag thrown if it took place in a football game, let alone lacrosse. The video below show’s the Blue Devils’ Kenny Brower lowering his head to make contact with Chris Kavanaugh, whose helmet went flying as his arms worryingly stiffened on the play.
Given that NFL players have been taken to task for much less, fans did not believe that the two-minute penalty Bower got was sufficient punishment.
Some Twitter users were surprised by the fact that Kavanaugh was able to continue playing, while others called for a concussion protocol.
The Blue Devils would get their punishment in the form of a loss as Notre Dame went on to win the national championship. Hopefully, Kavanagh’s not hurt too badly, though it does appear that he was concussed.
