Erin Andrews is one of the most well-known sports reporters currently on television. She has had a long career and mainly focuses on the NFL for sports reporting these days.
But, with that said, there is a lot more to this woman than meets the eye.
Do you want to know more? Here are 10 of the most interesting facts about the popular television personality, Erin Jill Andrews.
1. Her Father Was a Journalist
Yes, journalism runs in the family. Not only is Erin Andrews a sports reporter, but her father was an investigative journalist, and a well-regarded one, for about 35 years.
He spent most of his time as part of the WFLA News Channel 8 team that is located in Tampa, Florida, and retired in 2020.
Erin supposedly grew up watching sports with her father, so the apple did not fall far from the tree.
2. Erin Andrews Has Been a Reporter for Half of Her Life
Believe it or not, Andrews is older than she looks. She is 43 years old and has been working professionally as a reporter since she was 22.

Most people know her for her time at ESPN and FOX Sports nationally, but she started as a freelance reporter in Tampa for Fox Sports Florida. During her time in the field, she’s covered numerous major sporting events, from Daytona 500 to the NFL and Major League Baseball playoffs.
3. She Was the Tampa Bay Lightning Reporter
Believe it or not, Andrews did work in hockey for one season on her way up in the reporter industry. This was for the Sunshine Network during the 2001-02 season, where she served as the Tampa Bay Lightning reporter.
This would not be the last time she would have covered the NHL, as she also did so with the Turner South network covering the Atlanta Thrashers and sometimes covered the NHL when she first started working for ESPN in 2004.
4. Her Husband Played in the NHL
Andrews not only covered the sport of hockey but fell in love with someone while doing it. Erin Andrews’ husband is hockey player Jarret Stoll, who played in the NHL for 13 seasons.

In his career, Stoll played 872 games, with 388 points (144 goals and 244 assists). He was part of two Stanley Cup champion teams, those being the 2011-12 and 2013-14 Los Angeles Kings. He’s also played for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, and Minnesota Wild.
Andrews supposedly started dating Stoll in 2012. Then, they got engaged in 2016, got married in 2017, and have been together since.
5. Erin Andrews Had Cervical Cancer
Andrews announced in 2017 that she had been diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016. About 4,290 women die per year from cervical cancer with about 14,480 new cases per year, so there was some cause for concern when the diagnosis was announced.
She would go on to have multiple surgeries to try and fight this cancer diagnosis. Eventually, she did announce that she was cancer-free and there has not been much news about this since.
6. She Starred In and Hosted Dancing With the Stars
Andrews did take part in the popular celebrity dance competition in season 10. Several years later, she came back to the show on the other side as a host.

With the show filming two seasons per year, Erin hosted the show from season 18 to 28. All in all, she was on the show one way or another for 12 seasons and hosted this on the side from 2014 to 2019.
In the season where she was a contestant, Andrews finished in third place alongside Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
7. Erin Andrews Had a Stalker
One of the most famous stories surrounding Andrews is the fact that she had a stalker. The main event here took place in 2008 at a Nashville Marriott near Vanderbilt University.
The stalker, Michael David Barrett, had apparently filmed Andrews while she was privately in her own hotel room. He did this by using peepholes and eventually posted a video of her in the room, fully nude on the internet for the whole world to see.

Embarrassed and humiliated, Andrews eventually saw that Barrett was arrested and sentenced to two and a half years in prison for interstate stalking.
Erin had tried repeatedly to get the video taken down from the internet during that time.
8. She Won $55 Million in a Lawsuit
This is related to the stalking incident at the Marriott. Andrews ended up filing a civil lawsuit against not only Barrett but Marriott as well, for allegedly not respecting her privacy and for negligence.
In the end, she won the lawsuit, which totaled $55 million. About $28 million of that money was Barrett’s responsibility, and the other half of it was being charged to Marriott because that is where the incident took place.

Barrett apparently filed bankruptcy around that time, but Andrews and her lawyers fought back and made sure he was still on the hook for paying her out despite that.
9. She Has No Children
The clock is ticking for Andrews, as she currently has no children and she is 43 years old. Some may question if she wants kids at all but she did freeze her eggs before she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, which was over five years ago now.
Who knows if she will have kids or want them at all, but she has been married to Stoll for four years and is not getting any younger.
10. Erin Andrews’ Net Worth Could Be $30 Million
There is no definitive proof of Erin Andrews’ net worth or how much she actually makes. The rumor is that she currently makes $2 million per year from her gig at Fox Sports.

Combined that with her award in the lawsuit, her past host role on Dancing With the Stars, being married to a former NHL player, and having a few other endorsements, her estimated net worth of 30 million does start to make sense.
