Josephine Marie Canseco was born on November 5, 1996, to Jose and Jessica Sekely-Canseco. She was born and raised in the planned Miami suburb of Weston, FL, and lived a posh lifestyle as the daughter of an MLB star. About 31 miles north of Miami, Weston boasts some of the country’s most expensive real estate.
Her mother, Jessica Canseco, hailed from Cleveland. She met Jose while she worked as a waitress. They married shortly before Josie’s birth and stayed married until 1999.
Steroids and Scandals
Jose was a great player, but rumors swirled about his steroid use. As MLB found itself engulfed in a steroid scandal involving players like Barry Bonds and former teammate Mark McGwire, Jose wrote a tell-all titled “Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big.”
