Zack Greinke is a weird guy, which is one reason most MLB fan bases love him.
The legend of Greinke precedes him wherever he goes and he just wrote another chapter in his book with his latest move, allegedly.
This weekend, one of the greatest Greinke stories yet emerged from Kansas City, when one fan accused the pitcher of pretending to sign an autograph ball he handed him, only to watch Greinke toss it into the stands for his pure enjoyment.
“Right before I took this picture Greinke acted like he was about to sign my ball… he came over grabbed the ball and looked at me and then chucked it as far as he could. I asked why he did that…. he said ‘for my amusement.’ Weirdest player I’ve ever met,” the fan said.
Plenty of fans are now sharing their Greinke-related stories on social media.
“I totally believe this. My son and I are Dodgers fans and we saw him in Atlanta in 2013-14. Always blows the kids off, doesn’t smile, doesn’t engage. An old cab driver once told me if they look strange, they is strange. That’s Zach Greinke,” a fan said.

“Greinke is a strange, pretty fascinating dude who has gone through a lot of struggles. I’d watch a good documentary about him in a heartbeat,” another fan wrote.
A major moment in Greinke’s career came in 2006 when his struggles with social anxiety and depression became known.
It’s not a subject Greinke talks about often, and it’s hard to blame him since his disorder was diagnosed over 15 years ago.
“I don’t really think about it ever anymore,” Greinke said. “It never really bothered me on the mound.”
Greinke said he had the problem since high school, and it only got worse the better he got with baseball.
“The thing that I was always worried about was that went I went home in the offseason I didn’t want to be followed around everywhere I go,” Greinke said. “When it’s all you ever knew, it seems normal I guess.”
