The son of a former Red Sox star and his 8-year-old son were found dead and the details surrounding it are quite disturbing.
Police believe George Scott III killed his young son and then himself. The 54-year-old and his son, Dante Hazard were discovered by police who were performing a wellness check inside their home.
The well-being check was requested by a relative of Scott’s, who had not been able to get in touch, according to the statement.
“Police say Scott likely killed his son with a sharp object before killing himself, according to the Boston Globe,” Fox News reported.
The District Attorney’s office said it appears the father, “killed the boy with a sharp object before taking his own life.”
As part of this missing person investigation, detectives executed a court-issued search warrant at the home on Phillips Road, according to the statement.
Officials said the court has sealed those search warrants as part of the ongoing investigation into Hazard’s disappearance.
His father, George Scott, was an elite first baseman, winning eight Gold Glove awards during his time in Major League Baseball. He spent 14 years in the big leagues.
George Scott III played minor league baseball for a brief time.
Rest in peace to his 8-year-old and prayers to the family as they try and deal with this difficult matter that has no doubt shocked the entire family.
