White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson and Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez went toe-to-toe in a fight during a Major League Baseball that we are not accustomed to seeing.
It was fight night in Cleveland on Saturday as Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson sparked a wild bench-clearing brawl that led to multiple ejections.
Ramirez slid into second base and appeared to take exception to Anderson standing over him and the bag, all while keeping a tag on him.
Ramirez would stand up and point directly at his face while the two jawed at one another. Anderson dropped his glove, and the two squared up. Both guys threw a few punches, and eventually, Ramirez was able to land one that connected cleanly and led to Anderson hitting the deck.
We can now enjoy that fight with god old JR calling it:
That is about as clean of a right hand as you’ll see in a non-boxing or MMA fight, and Anderson likely is going to want a round two after being embarrassed.
Unfortunately for him and Ramirez, Major League Baseball will likely move fast and make sure both get suspended for the rest of this series as well as other games.
The Guardians might be under .500 but they are very much in the race to win the AL Central. The White Sox are playing for nothing but draft position.
