It was hard for Alistair Overeem to even crack a smile on Saturday night after he suffered a bloody and gruesome injury when his lip basically got knocked off his face.
In the fifth and final round of his UFC on ESPN 7 heavyweight match with Jairzinho Rozenstruik — Overeem needed to last just 4 more seconds to take the matchup to a decision, but Rozenstruik had other ideas when he delivered a devastating punch to his face.
Overeem managed to get back up, but the ref called the fight with just a few seconds left in the round.
A few hours later, Overeem joked on Twitter about his lip not looking too sexy.
He has since had plastic surgery to repair the damage.
