Such unexpected and heartbreaking news today.
On social media, there were heavy rumors that Kentucky Wildcats player Terrence Clarke was involved in a terrible car accident.
It would later be confirmed that he passed away in that accident, according to WKYT. He was only 19-years-old.
“Sources tell WKYT Clarke and BJ Boston were leaving a workout in LA. We have been told Clarke died on the way to hospital.
Boston was reportedly in a car behind him. We don’t know details on what happened.”
The former top-10 recruit declared for the NBA draft just last month after playing in just eight games for Kentucky this season due to an ankle injury.
“I have grown a lot with this experience and I will never take it for granted,” Clarke wrote in a note posted to Twitter. “… I had high expectations coming into this season and, of course, didn’t expect to be injured, which I understand is part of the game. Thank you to Coach Cal, the coaching staff and my teammates! BBN, I hope to make you all proud as I pursue my dreams.”
Clarke averaged 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and two assists per game while starting 6 of 8 games. He shot just 21.7% (5 for 23) from 3-point range and tallied more turnovers (22) than assists (16).
Prayers up to his family in this diffisult time.
