You’re probably at least a little bit familiar with Callie Rivers. She is, of course, the daughter of former NBA player and current NBA coach Doc Rivers. But there is also so much more to know about her other than just the fact that she is Doc Rivers’ daughter. That’s because she’s also Seth Curry’s wife.
Stephen Curry’s brother, Seth Curry, has spent the better part of the last decade bouncing around from one NBA team to the next. Since first signing with the Golden State Warriors back in 2013 after not getting selected in the 2013 NBA Draft, he has spent time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks (twice!), Portland Trail Blazers, and Philadelphia 76ers. It’s been a wild ride full of twists and turns!
Curry’s love life, on the other hand, has been a lot less chaotic. He started dating Callie Rivers several years ago. And after having a daughter, Carter Lynn, with her in May 2018, he proposed to her in February 2019. And eventually, the couple got married in September 2019, during an “opulent ceremony and reception” in Malibu.

Callie Rivers Was Born Into a Basketball Family
As we alluded to a moment ago, most people know Callie Rivers to at least some degree because her father is long-time NBA player and coach Doc Rivers. She was born back in 1989 to Doc and his wife Kristen Rivers in Atlanta.
Callie Rivers has three brothers. Just like her dad, her brothers Jeremiah, Austin, and Spencer all played basketball throughout high school and college before enjoying different degrees of professional success.
Of Callie Rivers’ three brothers, Austin is the one who has spent the most time playing basketball on a professional level. He was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in 2012 and has since suited up for the Los Angeles Clippers, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and, most recently, the Denver Nuggets.
Despite Her Basketball Roots, She Excelled at Volleyball
Callie Rivers might come from a basketball family. But that’s not the sport that she chose to devote herself to when she was growing up. Instead, she decided to take up volleyball—and becoming a volleyball player paid off for her in a big way.
Callie Rivers played volleyball while attending Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida and excelled at it. She helped Winter Park win three Florida Class 6A state titles and eventually went on to set school records for:
- Kills (1,394)
- Attempts (2,356)
- Blocks (184.5)
She was also named the Florida Gatorade High School Player of the Year in 2006. And she continued her volleyball success in college while attending the University of Florida.
Callie Rivers received SEC All-Freshman team honors during her debut with the Gators. She also went on to earn an AVCA Honorable Mention All-America selection as a senior after playing almost 400 sets and racking up nearly 850 kills throughout her college career.
She briefly flirted with the idea of playing volleyball professionally. But she retired from the sport shortly after signing a deal with Leonas de Ponce of the Liga de Voleibol Superior Femenino.
Callie Rivers Dated Other Athletes Before Seth Curry
Callie Rivers might be married to NBA guard Seth Curry now. But prior to starting her relationship with the basketball player, she was romantically linked to several other athletes.
These athletes reportedly included:
- Paul George (who split with Callie Rivers after a very public scandal involving a stripper)
- Kyrie Irving
- Dexter Strickland
- Brandon Spikes
It wasn’t until 2017 that Callie Rivers started dating Seth Curry and eventually settled down with him.
Becoming Seth Curry’s Wife
Callie Rivers and Seth Curry have only been involved in a romantic sense for a few years now. But they’ve actually known one another for a very long time.
Callie Rivers isn’t the only one with a dad who used to play in the NBA. Steph and Seth Curry’s dad Dell Curry was also an NBA player who competed against Doc Rivers for many years. Dell Curry’s NBA career spanned from 1986 through 2002, while Doc Rivers’ NBA career started in 1983 and ran through 1996.
Since Callie Rivers and Seth Curry ran in some of the same circles, they crossed paths many times throughout their young lives. But the romantic spark between them wouldn’t come about until much later.
Her Brother Wasn’t Thrilled At First
When Austin Rivers first heard that his sister Callie Rivers was dating an NBA player in 2017, he admitted to being a little bit worried about it. He was afraid of where the relationship might lead, especially after what had happened when Callie Rivers dated Paul George.
“When you hear your sister is dating an NBA player, you’re like, ‘Oh s****,’” Rivers said later on during an interview. “NBA players travel a lot. There is a reputation. You don’t want your sister to get hurt.”
But Austin Rivers started singing a much different tune after hearing that it was Seth Curry that Callie Rivers was dating. He had played with Seth Curry at Duke University in the early 2010s.
“When I heard it was Seth, I was relieved because he is one of the guys that act the right way,” he said.
Callie Rivers’ Family Grew to Love Seth Curry
Austin Rivers wasn’t the only member of the Rivers family who appreciated seeing Callie Rivers date Seth Curry. Doc Rivers also praised his daughter for picking Seth Curry. And he was happy to give Seth Curry his blessing when the NBA player reached out to him to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage in 2019.
“I couldn’t be happier,” the NBA coach said. “He’s such a gentleman. As a father, that is all you want.”
Doc Rivers also said that he was more than happy to foot the bill for the extravagant wedding that Callie Rivers and Seth Curry planned. It was a star-studded event that featured the Rivers and Curry families coming together to form the perfect basketball union.
Being Seth Curry’s Wife
Callie Rivers and Seth Curry have only been married for a couple of years now. But they’ve already turned into one of the NBA’s biggest power couples.
Callie Rivers routinely attends Seth Curry’s games, especially now that he plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, the team Doc Rivers is currently coaching. Callie Rivers has also been quick to offer up commentary on Seth Curry’s games and other NBA games that are going on through her social media accounts. It has helped her make a name for herself while showing her support for her husband.
