Christian Hackenberg probably had a dream of showing all of his doubters that he could indeed play the game of football after he flamed out with the New York Jets.
Through three games as the starter with the Memphis Express of the AAF, he showed exactly why he is currently out of the league and shouldn’t ever get a chance to return.
After going 8–for–14 with 88 yards and two interceptions during this past weekend’s game — he was benched in favor of former LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger, who went 9-for-12 through the air with 120 yards and two touchdowns.
Mettenberger is now the full-time starter of the 0-3 Express, head coach Mike Singletary told reporters on Monday.
The 23-year-old Hackenberg went 32-62 for 277 yards, 3 interceptions, and no touchdowns in his 3 starts.
