Paul Pierce played 19 seasons in the NBA and reportedly made over $195 million during that time period. That is more than enough to live the rest of his days stress free.
Unfortunately, NBA fans are thinking the former NBA star has squandered his fortune away as he is facing another new lawsuit, according to TMZ. This time, it is being said that Pierce owes about $180,000 in unpaid gambling debts that stemmed from two separate poker games at the home of Stephen Carmona, who has officially filed the lawsuit.
Pierce showed up at Carmona’s home and didn’t bring any money to play with. He would then ask for $150,000 to gamble. Eventually, Pierce lost $140,000 and gave Carmona $10,000 back to repay part of the loan.
He never paid the remaining baleance. Even though he owed Carmona, he would still ask for another $40K which he then proceeded to lose very quickly.
Carmona says Pierce owes him a total of $180K and he hasn’t paid him since these poker matches went down back in January. Now, he wants all of his money back, plus interest.
The 44-year-old spent 19 seasons in the NBA with the Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers. During his career, he was a 10-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA selection.
He also led the Celtics to an NBA championship in 2008 and was named NBA Finals MVP that season.
In 1,343 career regular-season games, Pierce averaged 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.6 three-pointers made and 1.3 steals per game, while shooting 44.5 percent from the field.
